Reaching Out

Church Pensioners:

The Church provides financial assistance to various financially distressed Christian men and women, some of whom are not members of the Church. They are called Church Pensioners. Presently the church supports about ten Pensioners.

Treats:

The WFCS arranges for three “treats” for the Church Pensioners and Church Service Staff, one before Easter, one before the Patronal Festival and one before Christmas. There is a time of prayer, singing and distribution of gifts after which a packed lunch is given to all.

Visiting the Sick:

Apart from the presbyter’s regular pastoral visits, usually a group from the WFCS, sometimes with members from the Youth Fellowship visits the sick and housebound.

Feeding of Street Children:

This programme is taken up by the WFCS. The last such programme was held on 26th January 2009, when about 150 street children were given lunch and clothes.

Blanket Distribution:

Blankets are distributed amongst the homeless people of the city during winter. The last such programme was on 21st December 2009, when our Presbyter, along with some members of the WFCS, Youth Fellowship and others distributed 50 blankets to homeless people who live in the pavements of the city.

Under Privileged Children:

This is a programme held by the WFCS every year before Christmas when street children join in the Christmas festivities, along with our Sunday school children. Last Christmas about 300 street children took part. Clothes, toys and food packets were distributed amongst the children. Santa Claus also makes his appearance spreading cheer and joy amongst the children.
