Architecture of the Church

The style of architecture adopted is early English Gothic in character with traces of Norman details and a few variations to suit the Indian climate. A unique feature of the construction is that the roofs of the Chancel and Sanctuary are of a lesser height than that of the nave. The general view of the building, outwardly, resembles a structure with a succession of pointed arches resting as if it were, on the floor.

The ground plan is in the shape of a Cross, the top of which is the “Sanctuary”; the arms being the “Transepts”, and the foot, being the “Nave”. This simple form, called the ‘Cruciform’, was introduced by early Norman builders.
